Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Mill Valley District Curriculum
The curriculum framework in math starts with the basic skills of math and then moves toward high school level mathematics and specifies learning goals with an explanation of the prior mathematical skills necessary to understand the subject. Science instruction is based upon the fundamental principles of scientific inquiry and the processes of discovery in topics such as earth and environmental science, biology, chemistry, physics and emerging technology.
The Language Arts curriculum details the range of skills that students will become proficient in to read and write different text styles. The strategies for developing the thinking skills of analysis and interpretation, and the ability to write persuasively or expositorily are also focuses of the Language Arts curriculum. These skill sets prepare students to communicate questions and ideas within all subject matter.
