Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Millbrae District Curriculum

In Language Arts, learning supports a range of educational goals and the learning is applied across content areas. The focus upon reading literature and non-fiction texts is supported through the teaching of skills that promote comprehension and analysis.  The Language Arts curriculum also offers students the opportunity to develop a process for writing and to write for different goals and audiences. All topics in the humanities and social sciences are closely supported by this educational design.

The Math curriculum also has a broad framework which supports the goal of teaching problem-solving and logical reasoning strategies which can be applied in advanced topics in science, technology and engineering design. All these opportunities provide students with key critical thinking skills which will enable them to achieve the standards in higher-level courses.
