Chalk Talk: To The Next Grade

Every student looks forward to the end of one grade level and moving on to the next. It’s not only the end of the school year for students but a step to becoming one of the older students in school. This moment, or these moments are also important for parents as well. It’s a time when children of course are getting one more year older but also determining whether they are academically and socially ready for that next step. Most important during the elementary years, but to recognize in older grades, the development of your child is critical to whether moving to the next grade is the right move. Make sure to talk with your child’s teacher about their academic progress in the classroom and their social interaction with others. Have conversations with teachers, and your student, frequently to learn how to help your child improve in areas that need more development. Encourage and reinforce academic and social opportunities that prepare your child for the next grade.
