Molalla District and Curriculum
The Molalla River School District provides a rigorous, standards-based curriculum for student learning. Using Common Core Standards in Math and Language Arts, and Oregon Academic Standards in other subject areas, students have a comprehensive series of standards to achieve which will ultimately prepare them for their college and career goals. There are also requirements for community service and expectations for character development that students are expected to meet in order to be prepared for life after graduation.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Molalla District Curriculum
The Math curriculum teaches students problem-solving skills involving number systems, algebra, geometry and measurement, and data analysis. Each of these are introduced to students during elementary and middle school before becoming full year courses in high school. Students are also expected to develop their quantitative and logical reasoning skills, the ability to understand how to solve any type of math problem, and the ability to communicate their mathematic thinking.
The Science curriculum involves topics ranging from earth, life and physical science to more current offerings in environmental science, engineering, and technology. Students learn principles and content knowledge in each of their courses which is compounded by their learning about the scientific method for investigating natural phenomenon. They learn how to design experiments, formulate hypotheses, and how to present their scientific conclusions using different media and technology.

- Molalla River Education Foundation - The Molalla River Education Foundation is dedicated to supporting the best interests of the students and helping to raise funds to enhance their learning experience. The Foundation grants scholarships to students and funds to teachers for classroom learning initiatives or resources and tries to bridge the gaps in areas such as the arts, cultural and heritage learning opportunities.
- MRSD and State Standards - Teaching, learning and testing in the district are based on a set of instructional standards which are thoroughly explained via the district website. Clear and detailed expectations in the subjects at each grade level help teachers plan, provide a clear set of expectations for assessment, and help determine the strengths and weaknesses of individual students. So that parents can understand precisely what their children are expected to know, an overview of the instructional standards are provided.
- STEM Collaboratives - In response to the need for next generation learning experiences, the district has established STEM learning collaboratives which focus on the subjects of science, technology, engineering and math, and teach these skills in an integrated fashion. Students in these programs also get to work on many project-based endeavors and develop innovative and collaborative skills in these fields.
