Monroeville District and Curriculum

Monroeville, AL is home to nine schools, with four of them being high schools. It houses one very large elementary school, Monroeville Elementary, and has several objectives for the students: to develop a positive environment of learning as well as a vital culture for good citizens, to deliver challenging content, to prepare students to be competitive in their studies and for the 21st century, to communicate with parents and community members and leaders, to develop relationships with businesses within the community of Monroeville, and to provide the highest level of education possible for the students.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Monroeville District Curriculum

In Monroeville, the school system of Monroe County provides many ways to teach history. Being a community full of history, history is taught at all levels, from community to world-wide societies. Teaching the students how to become good citizens, how to stand firm in their beliefs for the betterment of society, and the more advanced curriculum of history, such as government and economics, teaches the students all of the aspects of history. As students enter the upper grades, they are able to choose from a wide-array of electives, such as World History or Honor’s Courses.

Keeping Informed: Recent Monroeville Educational News

  • AP Exam Highlights - There were many students in Monroeville that scored high on the AP exams! Some students who made such high scores were awarded with $100 cash prizes that were given by A-Plus College. English Literature, Calculus, Biology and others were the tests that the students received cash for their achieving scores. Congratulations to the Advanced Placement instructors for preparing the students for success!
  • Superintendent Meets with Community Members - The superintendent of schools, Dr. K. Murphy has paid a visit to Monroe Intermediate School, in Monroeville, to talk about and generate a discussion on Strategic Planning. Many people attended the discussion, such as the principal of the school, community members, and students. The people added their input on the bright future of the middle school!
  • Career Cruising - Career Cruising, a career-exploration site online, can be used by students to determine the right career for them. This is online and can be accessed at home or school, and is an effective tool in helping students find what career would be great for them to pursue! There is a multitude of tools that can be accessed on this site, such as skills assessment tools, career profile tests, real-world interviews of professionals in a wide variety of occupations, resume templates and builders, and much more.
