Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Montebello District Curriculum

In Math, the subject is organized around numerical operations, algebraic operations, geometry and measurement, and data analysis. In the Sciences, the curriculum covers earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science, and technology and engineering. In Language Arts, topics covered are reading literary and non-fiction texts, research and the writing process, the development of strong language skills, and other communication processes.

The district has designed its curriculum to prepare students for learning in subsequent grade levels, and for college and career readiness. This curricular design is used to foster higher order thinking and to prepare students for the challenges of learning, locating resources, developing and maintaining connections in the 21st century.
