Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Moody District Curriculum

St. Clair County School System is a solid, effective school district which offers the core classes of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies on every level. Students are taught from the primary grades with data-driven, research-based instruction by highly qualified instructors, which in turn prepares them for the upper level coursework. Assessments are given regularly to measure student proficiency in meeting the expectations for subject-area learning.

In the teaching of reading and writing, students are exposed to the meaning of print at an early age. Incorporating writing along with the reading program, the students learn phonemic awareness and concept of print, which will lead to a fluently literate future. The St. Clair County School System and the State of Alabama has the belief that being literate in all areas of study will lead to a successful future for all students. Writing is incorporated into each subject area for an all-encompassing curriculum.

The media specialist is an outstanding member of the faculty of Margaret Elementary, who goes above and beyond her position by offering after-school hours for all members of the school, by providing the upmost quality in the library in terms of book and electronic selections for all students, and shows true teamwork as she collaborates with the teachers of the school.
  • School Programs on DVD - A DVD of any school program can be purchased for $10.00. This allows you to enjoy your child's performances without the stress of getting it all on video. Chalk Talk: Teachers that Shine

There are always certain teachers that stand out in a school. All teachers work hard to make sure the students gain the knowledge needed to be successful, but some teachers really do go the extra mile. They work extra hours, they incorporate more frills into the classroom, they always have a smile on their face, and they show true compassion for the students. Many of them are involved in extracurricular activities on a volunteer basis. These teachers are always remembered by their past students!
