Moreno Valley District and Curriculum
The schools in Moreno Valley follow the curriculum that has been developed and adopted by the California Department of Education. The curricular framework offers a way to organize the learning of each subject and describe the objectives and outcomes. Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Moreno Valley District Curriculum
The design of the curriculum brings about the higher-order thinking skills that will prepare students for college. The broad topics are covered year by year and understandings deepen as learning progresses. The Language Arts curriculum covers reading of fiction and non-fiction, writing for a range of purposes, speaking, and listening skills.
In Math, the curriculum describes the areas of numerical operations, geometry and measurement, algebra, and statistics and probability that students will develop each year. The Science curriculum provides a framework for teaching and learning in earth and life sciences, chemistry, physics, environmental science, and technology subjects.

Keeping Informed: Recent Moreno Valley Educational News
- MESA Preliminary Competition - Middle school students in the Moreno Valley MESA Program recently competed successfully at the UC Riverside Mesa Day Competition. There were a number of different categories that student's could enter projects into covering multimedia, engineering, math and science.
- CUE Conference - Student's and teachers recently attended an area-wide conference about Computer-Using Educators. A group of 5th graders from Moreno Valley demonstrated their abilities in programming, 3-art and animation. The many ways in which educators and students are able to incorporate technologies will remain a source of study and focus for years to come.
- College Readiness Week - Moreno Valley has recently introduced a program to focus on college-bound plans of students as early as during their middle school years. Through a collaboration with the organization Youth Education Motivation Program activities to get kids thinking about their college and career plans are being offered.
