Chalk Talk: A Grade Above the Best

One of the most important pieces of advice to give high school students is that your grades are only part of the equation. Don’t mistake this statement, good grades and good test scores are important when it comes to making it into the college of your choice. However, with the availability of academic assistance to help improve grades, it is increasingly the non-academic factors that will set an individual student apart from the crowd high achieving students applying to colleges every year. As you or your student begin to think about higher education, take every opportunity to become involved in extracurricular activities that will demonstrate your interest and present you as a well-rounded individual. Remember, colleges are looking for quality students but they also desire productive, active, participants for the campus community.
