Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Moss Point District Curriculum
Mathematics in Moss Point is started in the early years. The educators use manipulatives, as well as technology to assist the children in learning. One of the resources that are used through fifth grade is K-5 Math Teaching Resource. This helps the children learn by using games and hands-on activities that re-enforce what they are learning in more traditional ways while still staying true to the standards. This allows the students to achieve a knowledge of math that will take them into more advanced classes that they will face in high school.
Technology is also used to help children with Language Arts at Moss Point. Children are presented with spelling and grammar from the first years at school. They use exercises such as finger writing and in-class spelling games as well as programs such as Spelling City which shows children fun on-line activities that help them learn their words and grammar-usage. Students are continually perfecting these skills as they go through middle and high school, so that by the time they graduate they know how to write a well-formed research paper.

Keeping Informed: Recent Moss Point Educational News
- High School Science Class Received Grant - A Moss Point science teacher recently received a grant from Chevron and DonorsChoose.org. This grant will be used to purchase science materials for and outdoor science classroom. This classroom will become an interactive class for the students which will provide them with a new and exciting way to learn science.
- NJROTC Excel - The Moss Point JROTC did very well during the Shoulder-to-Shoulder Service Championship recently. In this competition this group were able to score the highest score of any JROTC from Mississippi.
- Invention Convention - Students from Moss Point Schools participated in a local Invention Convention recently. These students created inventions of their own after researching and designing them. They then presented their inventions to judges before they were observed by their parents.
