Chalk Talk: Learning to Swim

During the summer, most children may want to be in or around a pool. Play dates at the pool and swim team practice become the topic of conversation in many neighborhoods. If swimming ability and pool safety of your child is a concern of yours, seeking out someone or someplace for swim lessons can benefit you and your child in many ways. Your child may not want to “learn” anything once school is out. Or may feel they swim well enough or don’t seem interested in the pool as much as other children. However, as the summer progresses, the pool may be the most popular activity. Coaches and swim facilities can be found in many places, some coaches may even be available to teach lessons at your neighborhood pool. If your child hesitates to “learn” something new or improve their swimming ability, why not take the lessons with them? Or find some of their friends that are now on the swim team, to help encourage your child to join.
