Muskegon Charter Township District and Curriculum
Both Orchard View Schools and Reeths-Puffer School District follow the curriculum frameworks established by the Michigan Department of Education. Each framework sets out a series of standards in each subject that help students build a foundation and become capable of doing more complex work each year. The standards do not require that teachers use the same means of instruction or lessons, but require that they cover each expectation and ensure that all students are able to achieve it. The curriculum also has a series of standards in Career and Employability Skills to prepare students for post-graduate life.

Chalk Talk: Mistakes or Opportunities
Everyone has times when their actions lead them down a path they weren’t expecting. Students are taught early that each answer is either right or wrong. This can lead to stress or lessen a child's feelings of self-worth. Parents can help children by helping the child see that making a mistake is not a failure. Many discoveries have been made by people making mistakes. If parents help a child see that the error helped the child learn something about a topic. Children need to be reminded of how much they have learned in their lives, many times by trying something again and again until they learned a better way of doing something. In order to learn something new, they may have to be open to exploring the options that are open to them.
