Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Muskogee District Curriculum

In Math, particularly in higher math, students are taught to identify, analyze, and make descriptions of polygons, such as convex, concave, n-gonal, and hexagonal, and to use them to solve problems. Solving problems with polygons by taking the interior and exterior angle sum of the convex polygons is learned, and using algebraic and proofs by deduction to verify the answers. Properties of quadrilaterals are analyzed so that problems can be solved.

In English Language Arts, the students in higher English courses, read a large variety of literature by classical authors, such as Chaucer and Shakespeare, and not only read the literature but study the literature in depth. Students analyze, compare, and contrast character traits of the many characters. The learners also study the underlying themes of the literature and share their comprehension and opinions of the themes through a variety of essays, and presentations.

Students in schools do activities and spirit days revolving around these six areas of character, and these activities are fun and educational.
