Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Mustang District Curriculum
In English Language Arts, standards include methods of research. Students are expected to research for a purpose, such as researching a topic that interest them. Students, when researching, are taught how to find websites and articles that are credible, and they are taught how to differentiate between primary, secondary, and tertiary sources. Students are also taught to organize and develop their research paper from beginning to the final draft.
In Math, the teachers incorporate technology into the teaching of many concepts of math. Technology is used in the forms of educational websites, using Smartboards that allow the students to manipulate math concepts virtually, through the utilization of iPods and iPads and the various applications that focus on mathematics, and much more. Technology is integrated into mathematics learning from the elementary grades up into the secondary grades.

Chalk Talk: The Role of Classroom Volunteer
The classroom volunteer can do many things for the teacher. They may make copies or do other non-confidential paperwork for the teacher, read with a student, read stories to the class, help with crafts or other projects, or coming into the classroom to do a presentation. There are many people who are willing to come into the school and help out, and they are much appreciated! Becoming a volunteer is easy, there is usually paperwork to fill out, a background check to be run, and possibly a meet and greet with the principal, and then everything is all set!
