Nevada District and Curriculum
Nevada R-V School District believes in demonstrating the values it holds dear so that not only students are held accountable, but the school, itself, be held accountable. This includes promoting the values of respect and dignity through an appreciation of diversity. The district also believes that each individual should be engaged, involved and secure in his or her environment. This means that all individuals must take personal and social responsibility within their local community, not just in academics and extracurricular activities.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Nevada District Curriculum
The district aims for student learning to be a life-long endeavor, enhanced by a diversity of relevant opportunities, and they believe that when individuals are held to higher expectations they will produce greater results. Strong schools are a key to community development, and community support helps to drive the development strong schools, so the school maintains a connection to the community. Family, community, and school work together in the development of well-rounded students.
Beyond core academics, students also have a mandatory health curriculum that helps them understand health, nutrition, and wellness issues. Nutrition is an important component of the health curriculum. Students learn about calorie intake, the impact of carbohydrates, and the need to drink plenty of water and limit consumption of sugars. The hope is that by establishing this knowledge, students will be able to make healthful choices for themselves.

Keeping Informed: Recent Nevada Educational News
- NHS Foundation Common Scholarship - The NHS Foundation Common Scholarship is available to all graduating seniors in the district. Students simply need to fill out the application and turn it in by the due date and the Foundation will be hard at work funding and granting these requests.
- Gifted Education Program - The Gifted Education program allows students to take on additional challenges and runs from elementary school through high school. Students learning is aligned to the curriculum, but takes concepts and knowledge a step or two further than in the regular classroom.
- Smart Snacks in School - As with school districts across the nation, the Nevada schools have adopted a healthier school nutrition program and are reaching out to parents to encourage them to provide healthy snacks and lunches for students.

The fact is, a college just can’t know everything there is to know about every high school that applicants hail from. The school profile helps colleges gain an understanding of the high school, from the rigor of the school to any special focus. This can be very important for an applicant. This information can give a college real insight into course selection and preparedness of a student, and can really help a student be accepted.
