New Albany School District nurtures and educates students in an environment that helps the students reach their potential. This is accomplished by following a curriculum that is based on the Mississippi Framework and educational standards that follow a continuum from elementary through high school. This pattern helps students to master fundamentals and then progress towards more complex, analytic work.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the New Albany District Curriculum
Beginning in kindergarten, at New Albany Schools, children are given the tools to help them understand word structure and word patterns. The classes are able to do this through the use of McMillian McGraw Hill Reading, Accelerated Reading, Breakthrough to Literacy as well as independent works of literature. When these students enter middle and high school they continue reading novels such “A Wrinkle in Time” or “The Sign of the Beaver.” These works of literature help instill in graduates a life-long appreciation for reading.
The science curriculum introduces children to broad areas of science such as life cycles or patterns of change. Then as these students progress the science topics become more focused so students begin to study DNA or molecules. When they enter high school, New Albany students can then choose which of the many fields they have been exposed to that they would like to continue to explore. They are offered courses like physical science, biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy and physiology, environmental science, astronomy or genetics.

Keeping Informed: Recent New Albany Educational News
- Student Radio - Students from New Albany High School Journalism class broadcast school news on the local radio station. The show, which began as a five to ten minute timeframe, now runs for 30 minutes. During this time, they share events that are occurring at the school along with interviews.
- Value Added Schools - The Program of Research and Evaluation of Public Schools named schools in New Albany as 'Value Added Schools'. This was as a result of their Mississippi Statewide Accountability System and represents a significant honor for the district.
- Career and Technical Non-Traditional Day - Several Freshmen from New Albany High School took part in Non-Traditional Day. Students from the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math were able to explore how to clinics in various settings such as culinary arts, construction and Early Childhood Education. This day was made available through grant money.
