Chalk Talk: How to Write a Great College Essay
When your child begins the college application process, many of the schools to which they apply might require an admissions essay. This is an excellent opportunity for students to inform admissions officers of their personality, their achievements, and their commitment to educational success. However, writing these essays is easier said than done for a lot of students. But there are steps your child can take in order to write the best possible essay. First, and perhaps most obvious, essays need to be well written. The language used should be advanced, but easily understandable. It should also be crafted in a manner that is coherent and which ideas flow from one to the next. Second, the essay should be short and to the point. With thousands of admissions essays to read, admissions officers do not want a long-winded tale to read. Lastly, college essays should highlight your child’s individuality. Their essay should be interesting, unique, and help them stand out among all the other applicants.
