Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Newman District Curriculum
In Math, students learn the necessary skills regarding numeracy, algebra, geometry and data analysis each year. In the Sciences, students are instructed in earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science and technology. In Language Arts, students learn about how to read literary and informational texts, write for a range of purposes, use a writing process, and to listen and speak with critical thinking skills.
In Language Arts, students develop evaluative and interpretive thinking, in Math students learn how to problem-solve and reason, and in the Sciences students learn a range of process-oriented thinking skills. This design lays the framework for students to be prepared for 21st century challenges.
