Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Newport Beach District Curriculum

In Math, students are instructed in numerical operations, algebraic operations, geometry and measurement, and statistics and probability each year. Students deepen their knowledge and expand their problem-solving and mathematical reasoning skills. In English/Language Arts, the subject is organized around reading literary and informational texts, writing and revising processes, listening, and speaking. These areas helps to develop critical thinking, interpretative and analytic skills by providing a basis for reflection.

Other subject areas like the Sciences and Technology, History and Social Studies, Languages, Art and many specialized programs like Advanced Placement, have curriculum that describes the learning outcomes and the steps that will be taken to bring them about. These curriculum are designed by educators and professionals to prepare students for their future academic and professional pursuits.
