Chalk Talk: Options for Paying for College

The cost of higher education is enormous and growing every year and it’s very important to know your options. Most school counselors specialize in knowing all the ends and outs of different options. First, apply for any and all scholarships you can find, even if you aren’t entirely certain you qualify or not, apply anyway. Small scholarships can quickly add up and before you know it, you have a semester paid for. Consider going to a good state school, instead of a private school or ivy league. You can get a high quality education and save tens of thousands of dollars. Lastly, student loans are still a viable option. They are very low interest, and if you agree to teach in low income areas for a number of years after graduation, you can even have them entirely forgiven. So never let cost sway you away from college, there are always options out there if you take the time to search for them.
