Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Niagara Falls District Curriculum
The public schools in Niagara Falls adhere to the Common Core Curriculum, a nationwide set of learning standards. English/Language Arts begins with an emphasis on reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Students learn to demonstrate their reading comprehension through the asking and answering of questions and produce writing compositions. Students move to more demanding literature both fiction and nonfiction and should be able to analyze the content, and relate it to other events.
In Math, the focus is on helping students to develop and become confident in using mathematical problem solving skills in order to apply them to real world situations. Elementary students learn basic arithmetic, basic algebra and geometry, the studies of which continue through high school. Students learn how to feel comfortable with mathematical modeling and are able to apply mathematical concepts including algebraic concepts and geometric measurements to real world problems.

There are activities and games for children to play as they learn fiscal skills. There is also information for older children and for parents and teachers.
