Educating Our Parents: Understanding the North Lauderdale District Curriculum
The elementary Math curriculum begins to lay the early foundations of math by teaching students how to work with numbers, how to identify shapes, how to solve word problems, how to measure objects, and how to make sense of data. In middle school, students are expected to learn angles, area, conversions, equivalents, estimation, linear measure, parallelism, perpendicularity, similarity, statistics, symmetry, volume, and weight. High school students finish their math education by tackling algebra, geometry, and statistics.
During elementary Language Arts classes, students learn how to write letters, how to sound out words, how to learn the meaning of a word, and how to write sentences and paragraphs. Middle school students hone their reading and writing skills, gain more understanding of written text, and learn to communicate effectively. In high school, students are exposed to different types of literature, learn to use digital media, practice giving speeches, and write more advanced papers.

My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
We are so happy with the results of your tutoring program and academic support. Homework time was such a stressful evening for the entire evening before we brought your tutors into our home. Thank you for all your help!
Our daughter, a first grader, struggled with basic reading and handwriting. When she began with SchoolTutoring she was almost a year behind her class. Within a year of being enrolled, she is reading above her grade level and has the confidence to match.

Chalk Talk: The Importance of Art Education
Art is often overlooked in the education of a student, but it can have big benefits for academic achievement. Since artistic pursuits require different areas of the brain, they give the logic-processing areas a rest. Not only do these areas get a rest, but they are able to make better sense of problems when they are activated again. Art also allows students to express themselves and helps them to become better communicators. Furthermore, art gives students an equal chance of achievement because there is more freedom of expression. So, if you want your child to make progress in “core” subjects, do not neglect the arts.
