Chalk Talk: Three Great Reasons to Get Your Child Into Sports

Participating in sports provides children with many opportunities to learn, develop, and grow as a person. Sports keep kids physically active in an age in which children are more sedentary than ever. Sports teach children about the value of staying active and the role of physical activity on one’s overall wellness. Team sports, in particular, offer kids the chance to interact with other children and form bonds outside of the classroom. In this regard, sports represent an opportunity for children to expand their social circle. There are numerous personal qualities that sports promote as well. Athletes learn how to be efficient with their time, how to prioritize, and how to set and reach goals. Teamwork and communication skills are excellent benefits of participation in sports as well. Individual and team sports also teach kids valuable lessons about hard work and dealing with adversity when things don’t go quite as planned.
