In the teaching of Reading, the large span of K-12 standards include reading for meaning and enjoyment, the acquisition of new vocabulary, reading a variety of fiction and nonfiction, the discussion of text analysis, and synthesis of text meanings. In the teaching of Mathematics, the standards comprise of numerical operations and making sense of mathematic data, spatial relationships, geometry, data collection and analysis of the data, and the use of technology within the learning of mathematics on all levels. The goals of the curriculum are to enable students to understand how best to solve any type of math problems and to abstract logical information from data.

- Key Club News - Recently, Key Club officers from McDonald Elementary had a breakfast meeting with the Kiwanis of North Platte to discuss future endeavors for the club. The Key Club has been very busy this year; they have collected boxes of school items for Hurricane Sandy victims, collected over $250 from the elementary school to give to those impacted by the storm, volunteered for numerous agencies, and much more! - Student Art Exhibits - North Platte High School recently had an art show like no other. Many art projects were displayed and truly showed the talents of these young artists. North Platte High School, on the website, has a fantastic slide show for everyone to view. This online display has the art show participants and their designs.
