Educating Our Parents: Understanding the North St. Paul District Curriculum
The North St. Paul middle school math curriculum focuses student learning on enhancing understanding of numbers and operations. Students work with positive and negative rational numbers, and develop the ability to plot pairs of numbers on a grid. Percents and ratios are part of the curriculum as well, with learners acquiring the skills needed to calculate percentages and interpret ratios. Students also learn how to factor whole numbers and express whole numbers with exponents.
The visual arts curriculum in North St. Paul helps high school students develop advanced skills in creating art. Students explore various mediums for making art, including paints, clay, and charcoal. Learners analyze different genres and movements in art as well. Part of that analysis includes identifying the similarities and differences between genres from around the world. Art as a medium of expression is also a central component of the curriculum. Students examine various artworks and identify the meaning, emotion, or ideas being conveyed by the artist.

My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!

Chalk Talk: Benefits of Gifted Education
The purpose of gifted and talented programming is to offer a challenge to students that demonstrate academic giftedness. These programs are highly beneficial to gifted learners for many reasons. First, the added rigor involved in gifted programs keeps students engaged. Where gifted learners may become bored and disruptive in a regular classroom, a gifted classroom provides them with the academic challenges they need. Second, gifted and talented programs give learners the opportunity to learn with other gifted students, which stimulates further academic growth and development. Lastly, these programs also facilitate social development as gifted learners have the opportunity to interact with other students and develop strong social skills. Students with various academic and artistic talents are well-suited for these enrichment activities which give them greater depth both in and beyond the classroom.
