Chalk Talk: Benefits of Environmental Education

Children who participate in environmental education courses derive many benefits. Obviously, an improved understanding of the environment and the human impact upon it is a primary benefit. But beyond that, environmental education offers many practical learning experiences. Students have a chance to engage in hands-on learning that promotes enthusiasm for learning. By taking part in learning outside the classroom, students are able to make connections between what they learn and how it actually applies in the real world. Environmental education also supports tolerance and understanding because students must investigate issues from multiple perspectives. These courses promote healthy lifestyles as well. Students conduct their studies outside in the context of actively engaging with the environment.
