Chalk Talk: Gap Year Programs

A gap year is a deferment of college enrollment. Many students who pursue gap years, go ahead and apply to college and are accepted, and then push back enrollment for a term or a year. Not every college will allow students to differ in this way. But most are open to it if the student has a planned out program. There are many companies that offer gap years, and students who pursue these are often successful, though students can certainly put together their own programs. Usually, a gap year involves several different pursuits during the year, including volunteer work, interning or working, study, travel, and even other things. They are often rigorous programs, and students tend to return to college and do very well afterwards.
