Chalk Talk: How to Keep Track of Your Progress in High School

When graduation comes around, high school students want to be sure they’re on the receiving end of that diploma. Although guidance counselors and other supervisors or mentors can assist with this process, it’s a good idea to keep track of your progress yourself, especially since you’ll be responsible for it in college. Technology can be very helpful with this process as well. Many schools now enter test and assignment grades through their system and they can be accessed by you and your parents. There are also calculators that will estimate your grade so that you can have an idea of what your GPA will come to at the end of the semester or school year. A certain GPA is often required to graduate, so it is important that you meet this requirement. Certain classes are often required as well, for both graduation and college entrance requirements. Keep a list of these classes and check them off as you complete them. These forms can usually be found on a college’s website.
