Chalk Talk: How to Study in High School
Studying does not have to be difficult. To begin with, study early and often. This will help you to retain the information that you are being taught and you will be more ready for tests when they come, not having to cram information at the last minute. Know your learning style. If you learn best by taking notes, take lots of them. If you need to experience the material or touch or observe a process rather than just hearing it, then make a production of some sort or perform an example or experiment to help you learn the material. You can draw pictures to jog your memory on different concepts. You can use flashcards or rhyme schemes for memorization. You can use stories to remember processes. Whatever will work for you, use it. When difficult projects come up, make a plan on how you will accomplish it by the deadline with some time to spare. And remember to get enough sleep. Learned information is processed while you sleep and a good night’s sleep after studying will help you remember effectively what you have learned.
