Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Oswego District Curriculum

The Mathematics instruction in the Oswego City School District for students in Kindergarten through High School is based on providing students with a strong foundation in mathematical skills including the use of algorithms and mathematical procedures which students can use in real life situations. The skills which students develop prepare them for Integrated Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and additional optional coursework including the Mathematics of Sports, Calculus, Computer Math and Web Page Design.

In English and Language Arts, students focus on reading, writing, listening and speaking in the development of a mastery of the English language. Students also learn to be proficient in critical analysis in a variety of reading material and in writing compositions and reports that are well documented and researched. Writing for purposes such persuasion, exposition, reflection and creativity are all encouraged in the Language Arts curriculum.
