Paradise District and Curriculum

The curriculum in Paradise schools is in alignment with the state of Nevada’s school curriculum guidelines. The Language Arts/Literacy curriculum gives students the skills they will need to become lifelong readers, listeners and speakers, so that they can be successful in a chosen profession. The math curriculum begins with Kindergarten students by teaching the basics of operations, shapes and patterns. Ultimately, students also learn logical and abstract reasoning. The goal is to provide students with the skills necessary to be competitive in the world market.

We currently cover the following Paradise-area school district: Clark County School District.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Paradise District Curriculum

In Math, students learn shapes and sorting into the correct groups. All of the skills mastered throughout the lower grades are designed to prepare students for the more complex operations they will need to use in high school. In high school students learn to make sense of mathematical problems, working them until they are able to solve them. They learn to analyze problems and to they learn to use problems to draw tables and graphs that represent parameters.

The skills learned in Language Arts are used in all content area classes. In lower grades, students learn the basic skills of letter recognition and sounds, as well as listening and recall skills. These skills will be built on with each higher grade until students reach the level of high school where they use more complex skills. The goal of the curriculum is to prepare all students for real life application of their learned skills.

Chalk Talk: Parents as Teachers First

Did you know that your child’s most important years for academic success are the first five years of life? Studies have shown that parents are the key to building a solid foundation for a child’s academic success. Because of research in this field, in 1981, the state of Missouri founded the Parents as Teachers First organization. The goal of this organization is to train parents and support them in the teaching of their preschoolers. The organization designs and helps parents implement curricula for teaching their children. They provide support for you as you become involved in your child’s earliest education experiences.
