Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Park Township District Curriculum
Park Township Schools include various areas of science in their curriculum, including biology, chemistry, physics and ecology. Each of these sciences allow students to look at the world from different perspectives. From the elementary years through high school, each student learns about cycles of life, water, rocks, stars and more. They begin by looking at each object from a general perspective and then they begin to look closer. Sometimes this includes dissection, or the use of microscopes and other times this includes lab or field work.
Geometry is a part of the mathematics curriculum at Park Township Schools. This course concentrates on the math that is involved with shapes and angles. The students begin by learning the basic characteristics of simple shapes like triangles, squares and circles. As the students progress, the shapes and angles become more complex, as does the math surrounding them. The students discover how to find the perimeter, and area of shapes as well as obtuse and right angles. They also learn how to find the diameter and radius of circles.
