Pasadena District and Curriculum

The curriculum used in Pasadena covers the academic subjects and lays out the major areas of learning within each. The expectations for the skills and knowledge that students must master are described so that teachers may plan instruction and assessments that are tailored to meet these instructional objectives.

We currently cover the following Pasadena-area school district: Pasadena Unified School District.

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Pasadena District Curriculum

The Language Arts curriculum covers reading of literary and informational texts, writing for a range of purposes, speaking, and listening skills. The math curriculum lays out the areas of numerical operations, geometry and measurement, algebra, and statistics and probability that students will learn about each year. The science curriculum provides a detailed framework for earth and life sciences, chemistry, physics, environmental science, and technology subjects.

As students enter into specialized programs or academies, the curriculum will also be taught in conjunction with the subject matter that is the focus of the program. Students are able to deepen their subject area knowledge while also developing a range of critical thinking skills.
