Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Pawtucket District Curriculum

The district now uses the Rhode Island Instructional Management System (IMS). IMS is an online system that incorporates curriculum, assessment, instructional tools, and student data for teachers and school leaders. Pawtucket is also providing information to families regarding new diploma requirements that will affect students graduating in 2014 and beyond. These systems ensure that students learn the necessities to be able to perform more analytic work.

Pawtucket strives to create authentic learning experiences for every student throughout the entire year. As a result, they have created an engaging summer reading program that helps students retain their literacy skills throughout July and August. Resources are provided for students ranging K-12 on the district website. The Mathematics Curriculum is designed to build a strong foundation for elementary students with standards-based lesson. Students in high school get to choose from a wide range of rigorous courses that prepare them for post-secondary education and the workforce.
