Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Pell City District Curriculum

Students are required to take Math, Science, Language Arts and Social Studies to develop their literacy, mathematic and scientific literacy, and world understanding. In the teaching of Social Studies, which can incorporate the Arts, including music, drama and visual arts, students are exposed to the rich history of the local and national culture. Cross-curricula instruction is effective in teaching all aspects of Social Studies beginning in kindergarten and continuing through the high school coursework. Using creative ways through the arts to instruct Social Studies, as well as other subjects is practiced by many educators within this school district.

Chalk Talk: Technology at Home

Technology is a huge benefit for today's youngsters. For homework assignments there are learning videos, classroom links from teachers, and online educational games. Something many people did not have when they were younger, technology is a powerful learning tool for all. However, like many things, it must be used responsibly. Steering clear of the negative aspects of the internet and using the online world for educational purposes can be a positive addition for children's education.
