Keeping Informed: Recent Pell City Educational News

  • Summer Technology Training - Community members or staff members interested in brushing up on their technology skills, or wanting to learn how to use specific programs, like Moodle, can attend courses during the summer at various schools in Pell City. Teachers are able to learn more about Smartboard usage in their classrooms and other programs that can be used to add to their classroom teaching techniques. Each summer, the technology trainings are offered for all registered recipients to come and see the most recent developments in computer programs for use at home or at school.
  • Unique History Learning Experience - Two survivors of the Holocaust came and spoke to students at O.D. Duran Junior High. The students were able to learn from a question and answer session, and listened to the survivors talk about their stories. Gaining insight from their real world experiences, the students were able to become more familiar with what happened during that time in history.
  • Internet Safety - Throughout the school year, various trainings and informational sessions are offered for parents and students on the subject of internet safety. They explain the safe ways to browse online, how to acknowledge and prevent cyber bullying, and social media etiquette. The courses are for parents and children as well.
