Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Perkasie District Curriculum
Students in the Pennridge School District learn to read and write as early as kindergarten. They also learn about numbers and their functions and uses which later leads to math concepts and more complex problem-solving opportunities. Students also learn about history, science, technology and physical education. By the time students reach high school, they are ready to choose electives that line up with their goals and interests.
Students are able to take courses that reflect the needs they have to complete their high school diploma and launch into college or career immediately following. Advanced courses as well as introductory classes into many career choices help students to achieve even after graduation. Chalk Talk: How to Balance a Job While in High School
While not all students work during high school, many choose to, and having some money in savings can help immensely when looking to go to college and transition into “adult life” later on. Keeping a balanced schedule, however, is very important to insure that you don’t work so much that your social and academic life begin to suffer. That being said, there are a few things you can do to insure this. First of all, find out what you can handle with regards to working hours. Your parent or guardian may have some guidance in this area as well. Once you’ve decided what hours you can work, look for part time jobs that accommodate you. Finding work in an area you are interested in pursuing later on can be difficult to find, but very rewarding in the end, so at least check into these options. Make sure your boss knows when you can and cannot work. If you find yourself unable to keep up with your schedule, adjust it until you can.
