Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Port Colborne District Curriculum

The subjects of Math, Science, and Technology are of increasing focus in the schools. Areas such as Engineering and the Environment are also topics in Science which students will have the chance to study. These courses help students develop the process-oriented, problem-solving skills necessary for post-secondary work and learning. Students will find that many principles learnt in these subjects support their daily life and benefit their ability to reason and make sound decisions.

The subject of English is taught in such a way that student learning aids in their abilities in all classes. Literacy in math, science, history, and subjects of personal interest is sought and students are expected to develop reading strategies which they can apply to different text styles. Additionally, writing is focused on and students learn skills to develop written work in styles such as expository, narrative, and persuasive.
