Chalk Talk: Tips for Applying to College

One of the most important things you can do to make your application stand out is demonstrate interest in the college, and show good cause for your interest. What this means, is do tangible things that catch the attention of the committee and show that you are interested in attending this college. A campus visit is one of the main things you can do. Be sure to send a thank you note afterwards. Interviews are also a great way to show how enthusiastic you are about this college. Again, drop a line afterwards to thank the interviewer. The application itself demonstrates interest, especially if it has restrictions such as being early. Your essays might also show how much you are interested in this college and will give you a chance to explain how you see yourself fitting in and what you appreciate about the institutions offerings.
