Chalk Talk: Tips for Improved Test Taking Skills

Sometimes taking a test is not just about knowing the subject material, but about how to apply and communicate it effectively. One way students can increase their test scores is to become familiar with the style and type of questions they will be faced with answering. Are the test questions true-false, multiple-choice, or short answer? Another helpful tip for students is to manage their time effectively by answering questions in a logical manner. Finally, students should minimize testing anxiety by arriving to class early on the test day and taking a few slow focused deep breaths before the test begins. Proficiency in these few skills is sure to increase your test scores.
