Chalk Talk: The Importance of an Academically Supportive Home Environment
It has been observed that elementary, middle and high school students all do better in school when they have an academically supportive home environment than those who do not. Students with such a home environment are more motivate to complete school and succeed in it. Whether academics come easily to them or with more difficulty, students receiving such support at home are encouraged to try where those without such an environment may be more likely to give up. A supportive home environment provides school students with a model and example of what learning and studying look like by showing that learning is good. And school is all about learning. Whether parents received education or not, they can provide a home environment that values and encourages learning. This will have an invaluable influence on their children academically and beyond.
