The district in Rialto uses the curriculum adopted by the state of California that provides a detailed description of what students are expected to learn and be able to do in each subject. Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Rialto District Curriculum
Each subject is organized around its major areas and the sub-skills that underlie it. In Language Arts, the curriculum emphasizes reading literary and informational texts, writing and revising processes, listening, and speaking. In Math, students are instructed in numerical operations, algebraic operations, geometry and measurement, and statistics and probability. In Science, the curriculum describes what will be taught in earth and environmental science, biology, chemistry, physics, and the content and process knowledge to be acquired.
For students who enter small school learning environments, the curriculum also describes the way that additional subject matter will be introduced into the core content. This curriculum model helps to develop critical and evaluative thinking, problem-solving and reasoning skills by deepening subject area learning on a yearly basis.
