Chalk Talk: Benefits of Hands-On Learning
Being able to interact with the subject under study is a great way for students to learn. Hands-on learning is fun and often results in better student engagement in the learning process. Students are able to express their creativity by creating their own interpretation of the assignment. In group situations, hands-on projects facilitate the development of collaborative skills such as listening, sharing and taking responsibility. Perhaps most beneficial of all, projects that require students to do something results in far better retention of the material than if students merely see or hear the information.
