Chalk Talk: Value of Community College

There are many benefits that community colleges offer to graduating seniors. First, community colleges are much less expensive than their four-year counterparts. Students can complete their first two years of a four-year degree for a fraction of the price. Second, community colleges offer many cutting edge programs to meet the needs of the workforce. For adult learners, the opportunities at community colleges can mean significant career advances. Degrees and certificates in the medical field, green technologies, and computers are but a few that students can take advantage of to get a well-paying job. Lastly, community college is a good choice for students who have other obligations such as work or family. Flexible scheduling, online courses, and smaller class sizes all help busy students meet their family needs while achieving their educational goals.
