Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Roanoke District Curriculum
In the teaching of Mathematics, Roanoke City Schools gives the students many options to succeed. Higher math skills are vital in order to have achievement in today’s society, and attaining the knowledge in the upper-level mathematics courses is what many of the high school students enroll. Courses such as Algebra I and II, Advanced Geometry, Calculus, Trigonometry, and many others are offered. Technology is integrated into the math curriculum and the curriculum of each course follows the Alabama State Standards of Learning.
The English curriculum focuses in on Reading and Writing so that students are able to learn and communicate about information in all their subjects. Students are taught writing as a process, so that from a basis in writing clear sentences taught in the elementary grades, they become able to fully develop a formal essay using steps of pre-writing, writing and revising by the time they graduate from high school.

My daughter was able to improve her test scores after a few months of tutoring with SchoolTutoring. However, while raising test scores is great, the real payoff is in the self-confidence that she gained.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
We are so happy with the results of your tutoring program and academic support. Homework time was such a stressful evening for the entire evening before we brought your tutors into our home. Thank you for all your help!

Chalk Talk: The Role of the Drama Teacher
Roanoke City Schools puts much effort toward their drama department, as they do a few productions each year. The high school even incorporates students from the middle and elementary schools, and their plays draw large crowds. The drama teacher is responsible for developing this area of fine arts within the students. Acting can be challenging, and the drama instructor gives many techniques and strategies for the young actors to become successful. Alongside academics, drama proves to be a healthy outlet for students to show their talents.
