Roma District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs
Students at Roma Independent School District are educated according to the guidelines laid out in the Texas Essential Skills and Knowledge frameworks. The state participates in continuous evaluation of the curriculum and has established a TEKS review committee consisting of educators, business owners, industry professionals, and parents to ensure students have a current and rigorous set of learning expectations. At individual schools, teachers work together on ways they can integrate their subjects through shared topics or projects. This helps students to see how what they are learning connects to other areas of their lives and helps them hone the interests they will pursue in the future.
We currently cover the following Roma-area school district: Roma Independent School District.
Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Roma District Curriculum
A large part of the Texas Essential Skills and Knowledge curriculum for Math for elementary school is operations and algebraic thinking. Once students enter third grade, there is a focus on multiplication, and students are often introduced to multiplication through arrays. Arrays are multiplication models; they are rows and columns of objects or pictures. If there are three rows of 18 stars, this would be represented by the numerical expression 3 x 6 = 18. After students gain a basic understanding of multiplication, students also may be asked to create or draw an array based on a problem.
The science curriculum helps students understand how to conduct scientific investigation and presents students with topics covering matter and energy, organisms and environments, Earth and Space, and force, motion, and energy. These topics are covered in increasing depth during elementary and middle school, with the various fields becoming full year courses in high school. Students are taught how to form hypotheses, design experiments and test theories. The curriculum strives to develop scientific literacy for students and their scientific reasoning skills.

Chalk Talk: Signs Your Teen Is Prepared to Leave the House
Parents and teens often disagree when it is time for the teen to leave the home. With a little observatory skills, parents can check to see if the young adult has matured enough to live on their own. First, observe their self-management skills. See if they can set short-term goals and then meet them. This can also include their ability to resist temptations and delay gratification. Also, see if they are able to be accountable for their actions, accept supervision and criticism well. Another sign is if they are able to stick to a schedule. See if they are able to judge when to sleep, wake up and see if they are able to eat healthy meals and lead a healthy lifestyle. The young adult also needs to be able to care for themselves by managing their money, and have good hygiene skills. If the young adult can successfully do these items, they have a good foundation for living an independent life.
