Chalk Talk: Odds & Evens

Some questions on the GRE and other math tests will test your knowledge of how odd and even numbers combine. You can certainly choose numbers and test them out but there is a simpler way to find the outcome. When adding or subtracting 2 odd numbers or 2 even numbers, the result will always be even. Adding or subtracting an even number with an odd number will result in an odd number. When it comes to multiplication, the rules are a little different. If any integer is even, then the result will also be even. It is also true that if there are no even numbers, the answer will always be odd. With division, there are no set rules except that an odd number divided by any integer will not result in an even integer. Memorizing these number properties and practicing their use may help you to become a faster and more effective test-taker.
