The Science curriculum at San Marcos Schools includes the study of the water cycle. In the first years of school, students learn the basics of this cycle. They learn that water evaporates, gathers in clouds and then it falls to the earth. This is gone into more detail as the student progresses through school. When they enter high school, these students can learn even more as they take classes in Earth Science or if they take classes in Ecology.

Chalk Talk: Kindergarten Expectations
For many children, kindergarten is their first time with a structured learning experience. This can be scary for many, but it helps if the children and the parents know what expectations are desired. Each teacher may expect different things but in general they have similar ideas. First they want to know that the child will respect and follow the lead of the teacher and other authority figures. They also want a child to treat people and materials with respect and to understand and follow rules. The child should also understand that they should not hurt someone, either physically or emotionally. These are a few things to work on. It is also a good idea to talk with the teacher to see what expectations there are that are special to that teacher. This also opens the important door to parent-teacher communication.
