Educating Our Parents: Understanding the San Mateo District Curriculum
The state assessments that are given in math, reading and writing are aligned to the Common Core Standards. The expectations put forth within the curriculum are the skills that students are tested on and scores allow teachers and parents to see how a student is doing on meeting these academic expectations.
By using a curriculum that sets achievable and measurable goals, the skills that students are succeeding in and need extra instruction in can be seen clearly through the classwork and assessments. This is valuable for the strengthening the educational experience of all children.

San Mateo District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs
The curriculum used in the schools of San Mateo provides a standards-based approach to learning. The schools use the Common Core Standards as the framework for Math and English/Language Arts on a grade by grade level. These standards explain the skills required for learning areas of math like algebra, geometry, data analysis and numerical operations. In English/Language Arts the curriculum covers reading, writing, listening and speaking by pinpointing the skills that help students develop in these areas.
We currently cover the following San Mateo-area school district: San Mateo-Foster City School District, San Mateo Union High School District.

I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank-you! My son is very impressed with his tutor and looks forward to each session. What’s particularly amazing about this is our son has never really looked forward to math or school for that matter!
