Sanford District and Curriculum

Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Sanford District Curriculum
Lee County Schools understands that curriculum is a key element in education, so a rigorous course of study in the social studies area should create successful citizens who are productive in 21st-century society. Civics and government, personal financial literacy/economics, and history build in students an awareness and responsibility of the democracy given to us by the Constitution. People who can grasp issues and the effects of historical precedence will make sound decisions about the present and future.
Financial security and factors of the free-market economy provide freedoms not available to everyone in the world—and a student who comprehends that will understand better the policies of a democratic country. A grasp of differing cultures and value systems isn’t something that is only part of the high school curriculum though; the elementary and middle school curricula include an introduction to these core values as an introduction to concepts learned later.

Chalk Talk: Study Tips
Know which study environment works best for you. Some people study better by themselves, while others do better with a study partner. Studying right after school while info is fresh on their minds works for some; others may need a break before hitting the books in the early evening. Another person may do better with getting a good night’s sleep, then getting up early to study. Some students need absolute silence before they can focus, while others need soft music or some type of “white noise” in the background to help them concentrate. Figuring out which options you while studying will take a little time and can vary by the subject you’re working on, but doing so will be crucial for success.
