Santa Fe District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs
The Santa Fe Independent School District uses rigorous academic standards that scaffold learning for students from elementary through high school. There is an exploration of transitional programs that help students bridge the gap from high school to college. Students additionally identify other avenues for attaining their career goals, such as attending trade or vocational school, completing an apprenticeship, or joining the military. Highly trained teachers and staff members work diligently with students of all ages to help them acquire essential knowledge, skills, and tools. The district achieves this mission by devising curricula that are engaging, challenging, and relevant to the needs of the 21st century.
We currently cover the following Santa Fe-area school district: Santa Fe Independent School District.
Educating Our Parents: Understanding the Santa Fe District Curriculum
Geography is a part of the Social Studies curriculum. At Santa Fe Independent School District, students begin this study by learning words that have to do with directions. Many of the words are familiar, such as near, or far, but some they need to learn what they mean like north, or west. After they have mastered these words, they begin to become familiar with the world around them beginning with the state of Texas. They discover the landmarks, events and settlement patterns that led to people settling here. They then learn the same about the United States and countries around the world.
Science is a part of the curriculum at Santa Fe. Students begin by looking at subjects from a general viewpoint, then as they mature they look at each topic closer. While studying clouds, they begin to learn the different types of clouds and what kind of weather they may predict. During the study of chemistry, students learn how substances can be combined or separated to form different substances. There is also a survey of Earth’s various systems, including the atmosphere, lithosphere, biosphere and hydrosphere. Movement of matter and energy between these systems is scrutinized, and students identify the manner in which these transfers occur.

Chalk Talk: Discovering Talent in a Child
Each child has talent, however, it can be a talent that is not easy to find. Parents that are interested in finding out what their child's talent is can look for times when the child lights up. When the trigger for this is found, look for ways to incorporate this item into a child's life. While exploring the ways to bring the talent to life, parents need to remember that even if two children have the same talent, the way that a child reacts to the trigger may differ from another child. To improve at a talent, practice is still needed. Success may not happen overnight, but parents need to remember to praise every small advance the child makes. Also, children may try to mimic a person that is recognized in the area of interest. Encourage this action as it helps the child to set a goal to where they would like to be in time.
